Baptism What is Baptism? Baptism is an outward confession of your faith, your commitment to God, and obedience to Christ. It does not save us, rather it is a response to salvation. Baptism is symbolic of the of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ which, by faith and grace, saves us. (Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:3-5, Matthew 3:13-17) When Can I get Baptized? Baptism happens every first and third Sunday during service. Everyone who is baptized first has to complete the Salvation and Baptism session. This ensures each person fully understands salvation, baptism, and the covenant commitment to relationship with Christ and a life of discipleship. Everyone in the next generation completes a class about salvation and baptism during our new member process. Children do this during Children's church on Sunday mornings. Preteens and youth (4th Grade- 13th Grade) do this on third Saturdays. Jesus said to let the children come to Him and we are obedient to His instruction! Our goal is to ensure each child and student understand their decisions. A scholar must be committed to scholarship, Christ-like character, and service to the Kingdom of God. This scholarship is for students applying to attend a four year college or university. Applicants must be a member of WTC. Each applicant must be a graduating high school senior OR be currently enrolled as a traditional college student who is applying for the scholarship to apply to the following fall semester of school. Applicants must be attending a four-year institution of higher learning by the fall semester after their graduation. Applicants must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA when applying as a high school senior. Failure to enroll in an institute of higher learning makes their scholarship null and void. It will then be awarded to the next qualifying applicant. Each application will be viewed by the committee members who will submit individual scores. The individual scores will then be averaged to compile the final score of each application and essay. Each applicant must turn in all materials together by the deadline, or they will not be considered for the scholarship. The scholarship materials include a completed application, two reference letters, involvement forms, a current transcript, and an essay. The interview is the final component. The current Director cannot be a reference for any applicants Other than the first year, the committee members must be non-youth workers. If any applicant receives less than 50 points, they will not be able to be awarded a scholarship. If an applicant does not have 50 points accrued between their application and essay, they will be dropped from the process and will not be interviewed. The maximum score is 100 points. Prison Outreach Ministry 3rd Sundays at Caledonia Correctional Institution This ministry ministers to the incarcerated to let them know that God cares, God forgives and God loves them. MLK Oratorical Competition Saturday, January 10, 2026 | 9:00 AM Students in grades 6-12 who live in the city limits of Rocky Mount or attend Nash County Public Schools can participate in the MLK Oratorical Competition during the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration in January. This website is specifically for the WTC youth ministry. The general information is applicable to any student who is eligible to participate in the competition. Some information has been added and adjusted specifically for our ministry programming to partner with the city. Support and workshops are offered once we know someone is taking part in the oratorical competition. Applications are due December 20th but it is recommended to let the next generation ministry know you are participating before then in order to obtain a coach and other support. PURPOSE: The purpose of the contest is to allow students the opportunity to express themselves verbally using Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s philosophy.
