  • Summer Camp Counselor | Word Tabernacle

    Lead Counselor/Specials Instructor ​ Job purpose They develop and instruct lesson plans and activities to the Campers based on the weekly theme. The overall nature of this position is to teach the curriculum to 3 separate age groups that they will understand and apply based on their individual age groups. Duties and responsibilities The Summer Camp Lead Counselor is responsible for the safety of all students under their care during program hours. They supervise camp counselors and volunteers by directing the camp during all activities and emergency situations as well as before and after camp procedures. To support and develop staff and students, creating policies overseeing daily operations, developing the curriculum, and ensuring the school meets any standards set by law. Develop long-term relationships among the Campers and Staff to help the growth of the program. Manage all aspects of the camper’s daily activities. Develop a strong rapport with Director by responding to requests in a timely manner Communicate effectively with Staff and parents' families in order to promote understanding and support of the program. Offer emotional support, greet new campers, and implement camp rules. They supervise campers during meals, large group activities, and restroom breaks as well as monitor the hallways. Develop long-term relationships among the Campers and Staff to help the growth of the program. Manage all aspects of the camper’s daily activities. Develop a strong rapport with Lead Teachers/Specials Instructors by responding to requests in a timely manner Communicate effectively with Staff and parents' families in order to promote understanding and support of the program. Qualifications​ Must be 21 years old. Possess a strong background in early childhood or education including curriculum, standards, assessment. Policies, and procedures Must have Certified CPR and First Aid training or be willing to attend training. Pass drug and background screening provided by the local police department or State of North Carolina Child Development Possess a strong work ethic Be punctual and have minimum absences Be available for the functioning hours of the program Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children Have dependable transportation Physical requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally the employee will lift up to 50 lbs. such as to lift files, paper, school supplies, books, etc. Will be required to engage in physical activity with the children, set up and break down rooms being used for preschool purposes.     Word Tabernacle Church Scholarships (Members Only) WTC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN! Over $175,000 have been awarded over the past nine years of Word Tabernacle's scholarship program! You could be the next WTC Scholar! Scholarships are up to $2500 per year which equates to a possible $10,000 Scholarship over four years! The deadline for the WTC Ambassador Scholarship can be found by clicking on the application below. Be sure to preview the application so you will have all the necessary documents and information ahead of time. You will need to complete it in one sitting as you will not be able to save and come back. Feel free to type responses in a separate document to copy and paste them into the application. Wiggins and WTC Ambassador Scholarships Apply Now Word Tabernacle Ambassador Four Year College/University Scholarship A Word Tabernacle Ambassador Scholar is a student who embodies the vision of Word Tabernacle Church. They have been consistently striving to fulfill God’s purpose in their spiritual, educational, and social lives. A scholar must be committed to scholarship, Christ-like character, and service to the Kingdom of God. This scholarship is for students applying to attend a four year college or university. Applicants must be a member of WTC. Each applicant must be a graduating high school senior OR be currently enrolled as a traditional college student who is applying for the scholarship to apply to the following fall semester of school. Applicants must be attending a four-year institution of higher learning by the fall semester after their graduation. Applicants must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA when applying as a high school senior. Failure to enroll in an institute of higher learning makes their scholarship null and void. It will then be awarded to the next qualifying applicant. Each application will be viewed by the committee members who will submit individual scores. The individual scores will then be averaged to compile the final score of each application and essay. Each applicant must turn in all materials together by the deadline, or they will not be considered for the scholarship. The scholarship materials include a completed application, two reference letters, involvement forms, a current transcript, and an essay. The interview is the final component. The current Director cannot be a reference for any applicants Other than the first year, the committee members must be non-youth workers. If any applicant receives less than 50 points, they will not be able to be awarded a scholarship. If an applicant does not have 50 points accrued between their application and essay, they will be dropped from the process and will not be interviewed. The maximum score is 100 points. Amounts Awarded The amount awarded will be determined by the number of applicants who have a score higher than 50. There is no guarantee of how much each scholarship will be but the scholarships awarded will range from $500 to $2,500. The budget will be divided based on the point system and the number of applicants that apply. This will leave the applicants not knowing how much is awarded before they apply. Scholarship money will be paid directly to the school/institution of the applicant’s choice. How scholarships are awarded The applicant(s) with the most points will receive the highest amount of academic aid. In the event of a tie, the amount will be determined by the amount of time served in ministry. Wiggins Scholarship, in memory of a student who passed away amid seeking education from a two-year institution of higher learning, is for all students continuing their education at a two-year college. This is not limited to high school seniors. Students of any age and stage of life can apply. Guidelines and Components Applicants must be a member of WTC. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and plan to attend a community college or trade school in the fall semester. A lack of admittance to a community college or trade school makes their scholarship null and void. It will then be awarded to the next qualifying applicant. Each application will be viewed by the committee members who will submit individual scores. The individual scores will then be averaged to compile the final score of each application and essay. Each applicant must turn in all materials together by the deadline, or they will not be considered for the scholarship. Ministry Areas After School Program The after school program is designed for grades K-8, providing van transportation from local schools to the Impact Center where the children are cared for in a fun and safe environment.
